Club Rules & Regulations Note: Club rules DO NOT APPLY for any IBO sanctioned tournaments / qualifiers.
Who may participate?
ALL Archers are welcome! You will see many folks using both the old & the newest “high tech” compound bows, and others that prefer the traditional approach… from the primitive self-made bow, to the modern day recurve, or long bow. SAFETY is everyone’s responsibility. If any person sees something that could cause injury to anyone, PLEASE bring it to the IMMEDIATE attention of the person at the sign in desk, or that of a club member). There will be range marshals present at all club shoots, and you will see the Newport News Park Rangers in and around the range.
NOTE: Children & young adults (under the age of 18) who are not Tidewater Bowhunters & Archers Club members may only participate if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Registration & Turn-In Times
Registration is from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. No cards will be issued after “High Noon”.
All tournament participants must have their score cards turned no later than 3:00 p.m. Club
members will start to break down / collect the course targets starting at 3:00 p.m.
Scoring. (a.ka. “ How to score your arrow”)
11 – Small circle centered within the ten ring. Approximately 25% of the ten ring will be used. Arrow must at least touch the circle. This score would reflect 11 on the scorecard. 10 – Circle inside vital area. Arrow must at least touch circle. 8 – Vital area other than the 10-point circle. Arrow must at least touch the vital area line. 5 – Remainder of the animal touching body color. 0 – Hitting the horn, antler or hoof, or not touching body color. Also, missing or a glance off. |
|
- To score, arrows must be stuck in the target. Witnessed pass through or bounce outs are to be scored as agreed on by the majority of the group, or re-shot before shooters advance to the target. A pass through is defined as an arrow passing completely, through a target, with material 360 degrees around the arrow, leaving both an entrance and exit hole.
- An arrow that is embedded into the nock end of an arrow that is embedded in the target will be scored the same as the embedded arrow.
-Any arrow released accidentally or deliberately will be, if not in scoring area of target, scored as an O. Any arrow, which is dropped and can be recovered while touching the stake may be re-nocked and re-shot.
Caution:
DO NOT remove/pull your arrow from the target until it has been verified by the scorekeeper(s), and has been annotated on your scorecard. Failure to do this will automatically provide you with a score of “0” for that target.
PLEASE, remember the honor system! If you are the “designated scorekeeper”, it is your responsibility to score your groups cards as they actually shot the target, and not as you would hope they would have shoot the target.
Thank you!
